Cisco College believes everyone should have the opportunity to further their education and begin a new career; however, we understand that not all students can attend campus-based classes because of work, location, or other circumstances. To meet your needs, we offer hundreds of distance education classes each year. For a list of current offerings, please visit our schedule.
Distance education classes offer flexibility while maintaining academic quality, learning outcomes, credit hours, and transferability. Additionally, we support all students with resources such as academic advising, financial aid, library services, and tutoring.
Hybrid classes provide a blended learning experience. More than 50% but less than 85% of the course will take place using distance education resources including Canvas. The remaining instruction will be delivered with the instructor and students in the same location. Exams may be online or in-person.
(Identified on the Course Schedule as HYB under Location. Will also include meeting day(s), time, and in-person location.)
Instruction will be delivered asynchronously (anytime) online using distance education resources including Canvas. Online classes may include optional synchronous (live) opportunities for student and instructor interaction. Some online classes require proctored exams or lab attendance.
(Identified on the Course Schedule as ONL under Location.)
Remote classes provide synchronous (live) instruction via Zoom or a similar video conferencing service. Attendance during a set schedule is required each week. Remote classes are web-enhanced to include supplemental use of distance education resources including Canvas. They may require proctored exams.
(Identified on the Course Schedule as REM under Location. Will also include meeting day(s) and time.)
Many in-person classes at Cisco College are web-enhanced and will include supplemental use of distance education resources including Canvas. Instructors may provide electronic copies of the syllabus and course materials, ask for online submissions, and use Canvas grading features. Instructors will notify students during the first week of class if or how they will be using Canvas.
(Identified on the Course Schedule by meeting day(s), time, and in-person location.)
