  • House Bill 2504 Compliance

    Below are outlined the requirements per House Bill 2504 and accompanying details regarding Cisco College's implementation of those requirements. All syllabus and curriculum vitae are presented in Adobe PDF format which may require an additional piece of software for your computer to be viewed properly.  Most modern web browsers and computing environments have PDF file viewing capabilities but free viewer software is readily available at www.acrobat.com if needed.  

    All public institutions in Texas, other than health-related institutions, are required to post course and faculty information on the institution's website (HB 2504) as of Fall 2010.

    HOUSE BILL 2504 - SECTION 51.974. INTERNET ACCESS TO COURSE INFORMATION

    "Each institution of higher education, other than a medical and dental unit, as defined by Section 61.003, shall make available to the public on the institution’s Internet website for each undergraduate classroom course offered for credit by the institution: Syllabus, Curriculum Vitae for each instructor, Departmental Budgets (if available), and a Plan for Posting Student Evaluation Results."


    CLASS SYLLABUS

    "Online syllabi must satisfy the standards adopted by the institution.

    Syllabi must provide a brief description of each major course requirement, including each major assignment and examination, required/recommended reading, and a general description of the subject matter of each lecture or discussion."

    Cisco College Syllabus Implementation

    Cisco College posts all syllabi by course subject on the main Cisco College website www.cisco.edu. To access the syllabi select "Catalog & Courses" under the "Degrees & Programs" tab to navigate to syllabi listing by course subject. Scroll to the bottom of the page where a full listing of course subjects are displayed. Select the course you wish to view syllabi for and you will be redirected to a page where you can find and download syllabi for all classes in that course subject from the past two years. The syllabi are presented in Adobe PDF format for easy viewing.


    CURRICULUM VITAE

    "Curriculum vitae made public on the institution’s Internet website for each regular instructor must list the instructor’s postsecondary education, teaching experience, and significant professional publications.

    Curriculum vitae made public on the institution’s Internet website may not include personal information, including the instructor’s home address or home telephone number."

    Cisco College CV Implementation

    Cisco College posts all instructor curriculum vitae information in two locations on the main college website (www.cisco.edu). To access the CV information a visitor may:

    1. Visit the Faculty Staff Directory and click on the name of any instructor. The CV is linked to each instructor's name and will automatically open in Adobe PDF format for easy viewing when the name is selected. 
    2. Visit an individual department page and scroll to the "Meet the Faculty" section. A "Curriculum Vitae" link is available for all instructors in this section of the page. The CV will automatically open in Adobe PDF format for easy viewing when this link is selected. 

    BUDGETS

    "If available, a departmental budget report from the most recent semester or other academic term during which the institution offered the course."

    Cisco College Budget Implementation

    Cisco College does not have budget reports available by department or term. 


    ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

    "The information required must be accessible from the institution’s Internet website home page by use of not more than three links; searchable by keywords and phrases; and accessible to the public without requiring registration or use of a user name, a password, or another user identification.

    The institution shall make the information required available not later than the seventh day after the first day of classes for the semester or other academic term during which the course is offered.

    The institution shall continue to make the information available on the institution’s Internet website until at least the second anniversary of the date on which the institution initially posted the information."

    Cisco College Additional Requirements Strategy

    All syllabus and curriculum vitae information is available in 3 clicks and is searchable via the Cisco College main website. All information is posted according to the required timeline and is made available by the seventh class day. All information is retained for a minimum of two years from the date the information is initially posted.


    STANDARDS FOR COMPLIANCE  

    "The institution shall update the information required as soon as practicable after the information changes.

    The governing body of the institution shall designate an Administrator to be responsible for ensuring implementation. The administrator may assign duties under this section to one or more administrative employees.

    Not later than January 1 of each odd-numbered year, each institution of higher education shall submit a written report regarding the institution’s compliance with this section to the governor, the lieutenant governor, the speaker of the house of representatives, and the presiding officer of each legislative standing committee with primary jurisdiction over higher education.

    Institutions of higher education included in this section shall conduct end-of-course student evaluations of faculty and develop a plan to make evaluations available on the institution’s website."

    Cisco College Compliance

    All information is updated as needed when course information or instructor specifications change. An updated version is put in place showing correct information. An administrative position has been assigned to ensure implementation with duties delegated to additional administrative employees.
