Cisco College’s student newspaper, the Wrangler Express, is published daily during regular semesters on its Facebook page.

The publication is produced by students in the Introduction to Mass Communication course (COMM 1307) and the Principles of Journalism Course (COMM 2302). When completed, both these courses are transferable to any communications degree program at any college or university in the State of Texas educational system.

In addition to learning principles of mass communication and journalism in these courses, students also receive practical experience by covering news and sports events at the college. In one month alone, April 2022, the Wrangler Express reached more than 38,000 Facebook users.

The Wrangler Express strives to cover news of all department on both Cisco and Abilene campuses. In addition, feature stories focus on interesting individual students, faculty, and alumni. Students also write opinion columns.

Photography is a key element of the Wrangler Express, and students receive extensive training and practice in photographing college events.

Participation in the publication of the Wrangler Express is open to all students, staff, and faculty at both campuses who express an interest in mass communications and journalism or who possess a desire to become more involved in the life of the college.
