CISCO WRANGLERS BASEBALL TEAM WINS REGION V- HEADED TO WORLD SERIES!

 Cisco College Wranglers Baseball Team wins the NJCAA Region V Championship and will compete in the 2012 National Junior College Athletic Association World Series Beginning May 26th in Grand Junction, CO.

The 2012 Cisco College Baseball team beat Howard College today Howard College 5-2. This is the first time in the history of Cisco College (since 1940) that the baseball team has advanced to the NJCAA World Series. 

 Getting past Howard College was a daunting task, as Howard College beat Cisco College 16-5 in the semi-final game of the tournament. Cisco had skunked Howard College early in the series 8-0.

 Cisco Coach David White said before the final game, “We will just keep fighting; we will fight all the way, getting as many runs as we can in the process”. The Wranglers won the fight, ensuring Cisco College will be competing for the first time in the NJCAA World Series, which is played in Grand Junction, Colorado May 26 thru June 2, 2012. 

 Congratulations are in order for Coaches David White, Shawn Hughes, Tommy Szalewski and the entire team.  Cisco Wranglers ended the 2012 Season number with a 46/11 record, as Number 1 in Region V (Texas and New Mexico), and Number 3 Nationally.

 The Wranglers will be taking their “fight” to Colorado in 10 days, where Big Country fans hope and believe they will win the World Series and be best NJCAA team in the Nation.

MAY 2, 2012: CISCO COLLEGE WRANGLERS ARE NOW # 2 NATIONALLY! The NJCAA announced April 18,2012 that Cisco College players top their Honor's List, with Heath Herrington being named Player of the Week, and Brad Vachon Pitcher of the Week. Abilene Reporter News Coverage Cisco College Wranglers Baseball Team now ranked #6 nationally, and is the top ranked baseball team in Texas Eastern and Western sections of Region 5 of the NJCAA, which encompasses the Western half of Texas and all of New Mexico. Cisco Criminal Justice Graduate is Ready
Lydia Gonzales is a fighter. A five foot dynamo of determination, she has fought circumstances that would have caused lesser women to give up...three small children to care for alone, two jobs, full time college load at Cisco College-Abilene, where she has diligently studied for the last four years. Tonight is Lydia's Victory Party. She graduates with an Associates degree in Criminal Justice. She has another goal now - fighting for justice for victims of violent crimes and their families. Lydia's next dream is to be the first Hispanic female homicide detective on the Abilene Police Force. Lydia is a good example of the kind of individuals who will cross the stage at Cisco College this evening; good people whose dreams come to pass through the use of the double sided grit of  determination and hard work. Fire Academy Now Accepting Applications

The Cisco College Fire Academy is accepting applications for the 2012-2013 Academy. 

The minimum age for applicants is 18 years.  The Fire Academy is a competitive program. 

Twenty applicants will be chosen for the Cisco College Fire Academy.  Applicants are required to take the Accuplacer test, participate in an interview and an agility test for consideration into the program. 

If accepted into the Fire Academy students will attend TSTC –Abilene for the EMT portion of the academy and Cisco College – Abilene for the remainder.  The Academy runs Fall 2012 though Summer 2013.

Graduation of “Fast-Track” Welding Makes Room for More
Close to 200 family and  friends turned out to see the first group of  13 "Fast Track" welders graduate. Enrollment for the the second session is complete and the new class begins on April 30th. Classes are free. Applications now being taken for the 3rd session.

CISCO COLLEGE OFFERS RURAL LEADERSHIP PROGRAM FOR WEST CENTRAL TEXAS REGION
Cisco College offers their second annual Rural Leadership Program for people from the Big Country who are interested in becoming more proactive in today’s changing world. The course will be taught the third Thursday of each month at the Myrtle Wilks Community Center from 8:30 am to 2:30 pm, beginning in May and running through November of 2012. The cost is $330, which includes training, activities, materials, morning snacks, beverages and lunch.
 
Those completing will receive a Cisco College Continuing Education Certificate for 42 contact hours/4.2 CEU’s. APPLICATION DEADLINE IS MAY 3, 2012

New Student Orientation - Cisco Campus

New Students taking classes at the Cisco campus, in Cisco, TX are welcome to sign up for Orientation on one of the following dates: June 19, July 17, August 21, 2102. Orientation will last from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm. Cost for placement test is $12 per section; $38 total if all sections are needed. orientation will include placement testing if necessary, registration for classes, information about the campus and specific departments. Summer & Fall 2012 Registration

Summer registration starts April 17th. Fall registration begins on April 30th. Please look at Campus Connect to make sure you have not holds and bring a note from your developmental teachers if you are currently enrolled in developmental classes. You must be making an A or B to move up to the next level during preregistration.

Cisco Chamber of Commerce recently hosted an Awards Reception. Honored were Cisco students Donovan C. Day (GPA 4.0) for Academic  Excellence, and Sunshine Hulett, Cosmetology student, for Technical Achievement (GPA 3.29). The Outstanding Faculty award was bestowed on Math professor, Carl Bray.

New Bacterial Meningitis Vaccination Requirements
Cisco College in compliance with Texas Education Code, Section 51.9192, Subchapter Z, as amended by the 82nd Texas Legislature, now requires the bacterial meningitis vaccination for all entering students enrolling in classes.
