Board of Regents Election Information
Persons living in the Cisco College taxing district will have the opportunity to vote for the Board of Regents, three places each with terms of 6 years, on the Texas General Election Day, May 10, 2014:
Place 4, Charles Humphries, uncontested.
Place 6, Ricky J. Whatley, also uncontested.
Place 5 is the only contested race with Dr. Gary W. Harris opposed by Jerry Conring.
Also, running unopposed in Place 1, is Sarah Adams filling an unexpired term of 4 years. Ms. Adams' spouse, John Bailey, formerly filled Place 1 until he was appointed Judge in the 11th District Court of Appeals and resigned the Regent's post. Ms. Adams was appointed in October to fill his place until the election.
Cisco College Announces New High Tech Welding Facility
Cisco College – Abilene will host a media conference and open house on Monday, April 7, 2014 at 1:30-2:30 PM to annouce new state-of-the-art laboratory slated for use in the welding training portion of Oil and Gas Technology program currently under development at Cisco College. The facility will also be utilized for the Fast Track Welding program partnership with Workforce Solutions of West Central Texas. More info. Fast Track Program.
Cisco College Rolls Out New CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) Program
The CNA program is a 100-hour course that includes lecture and clinical components, and prepares students to take the state of Texas examination to become a Certified Nurse Aide by the Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services. This program provides students with a level of knowledge, skills, theory, concepts, and abilities essential to provide safe care to the residents of long term care facilities/nursing homes. Students will be prepared for entry-level employment in long-term care facilities, doctor’s offices and hospitals. Income will depend on the area of employment chosen. New Child Development Associate Credential Program
Starting Monday, April 21st, the CDA I topics of study include CDA overview, observation skills, and child growth and development. The four functional areas of study are creative, cognitive, physical, and communication. Under the direction of Jodelle Oakley, M.S., the CDA programs (CDA I, II, III) have been re-designed to better present the training necessary for child care providers to deliver quality child care.
