Cisco College Meat Judging Team
The Cisco College Meat Judging Team returned home with a cache of wins from the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo Intercollegiate Meat Judging Contest held March 8 in Houston, TX.  The team, in their first year, had another Top Five Team finish and placed 4th overall for the total contest.

TSI Placement Exam
Starting March 18th, the TSI Placement Exam will be offered each Tuesday at 8:30am on the Cisco Campus. Students should email or to sign up for the exam and receive pre-test information. Abilene TSI testing is offered at different times. The test costs $36.

New Bacterial Meningitis Vaccination Requirements
Cisco College in compliance with Texas Education Code, Section 51.9192, Subchapter Z, as amended by the 82nd Texas Legislature, now requires the bacterial meningitis vaccination for all entering students under the age of 22 prior to enrolling in classes. See the following for additional information on vaccination requirements, exemptions and forms required.

Board of Regents Election Information
Persons living in the Cisco College taxing district will have the opportunity to vote for the Board of Regents, three places each with terms of 6 years, on the Texas General Election Day, May 10, 2014:
Place 4, Charles Humphries, uncontested.
Place 6, Ricky J. Whatley, also uncontested.
Place 5 is the only contested race with Dr. Gary W. Harris opposed by Jerry Conring. 
Also, running unopposed in Place 1, is Sarah Adams filling an unexpired term of 4 years. Ms. Adams' spouse, John Bailey, formerly filled Place 1 until he was appointed Judge in the 11th District Court of Appeals and resigned the Regent's post.  Ms. Adams was appointed in October to fill his place until the election. 

Cisco College Announces New High Tech Welding Facility
Cisco College – Abilene will host a media conference and open house on Monday, April 7, 2014 at 1:30-2:30 PM to annouce new state-of-the-art laboratory slated for use in the welding training portion of Oil and Gas Technology program currently under development at Cisco College. The facility will also be utilized for the Fast Track Welding program partnership with Workforce Solutions of West Central Texas. More info. Fast Track Program.

Cisco College Rolls Out New CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) Program
The CNA program is a 100-hour course that includes lecture and clinical components, and prepares students to take the state of Texas examination to become a Certified Nurse Aide by the Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services.  This program provides students with a level of knowledge, skills, theory, concepts, and abilities essential to provide safe care to the residents of long term care facilities/nursing homes. Students will be prepared for entry-level employment in long-term care facilities, doctor’s offices and hospitals. Income will depend on the area of employment chosen. New Smart Start Training Program For Child Care Professionals
Kick start a fulfilling career in Child Development at Cisco College.  Smart Start is a beginner level training series that meets the requirements for pre-service training. The Series is continuous and will repeat in order to meet the needs of newly hired childcare staff.

New Child Development Associate Credential Program
Starting Monday, April 21st, the CDA I topics of study include CDA overview, observation skills, and child growth and development. The four functional areas of study are creative, cognitive, physical, and communication.  Under the direction of Jodelle Oakley, M.S., the CDA programs (CDA I, II, III) have been re-designed to better present the training necessary for child care providers to deliver quality child care.
