Cayla Petree and The Lady Wranglers are gearing up for another exciting season in 2010-2011. Last season the team finished with an overall record of 21-9. Five sophomores, all graduated and will continue their playing careers at the NCAA Division 1 and 2 levels. Over $400,000 in scholarships were earned between former Lady Wranglers Kimmie Haynes, LaKendra Smith, Alexandria Dews, Glaucia Lehn and Nicole Pendarvis.
The anticipation has been building after finishing last season on a 12-2 run to wrap up the year, including to a seven point loss to nationally ranked, Midland College (#3) in the Region 5 Tournament. Last year marked the first time since 2003 that Cisco had finished in the top four of the Northern Texas Junior College Athletic Conference. Hopes are high for this year's squad with three starters returning in point guards, Ashley Stamp and Hershiira Boone Rodgers and shooting forward, Amber Arceneux-Francis. The addition of transfers MaKayla Grahn and Roselis Silva will add depth at the guard position for the Lady Wranglers. Synthea Reed showed signs of defensive greatness late in the year and will be joined by Jaimee Cohen and Taylor Valach, both from the land down under. The trio should provide a strong inside presence. Redshirt freshman, Candice Howard will be a welcomed scoring threat from the perimeter. This group will definitely show an up tempo fast breaking style of play and be really fun to watch! Hope to see you along the way!
