Business Systems Technology

The Business Systems Technology program at Cisco College prepares students to work as administrative assistants or office managers. As the reliance on technology continues to expand in offices, the role of the office professional has greatly evolved. Office automation and organizational restructuring have led administrative assistants to assume responsibilities once reserved for managerial and professional staff. Many administrative assistants and office managers now provide training and orientation for new staff, conduct research on the Internet, and operate and troubleshoot new office technologies. In spite of these changes, however, the core responsibilities have remained much the same: performing and coordinating an office’s administrative activities and storing, retrieving, and integrating information for dissemination to staff and clients.

The Business Systems Technology Program teaches skills from the Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) Certification and uses a hands-on approach to instruction in computer applications. In addition, other business skills such as business communications and principles of management prepare the student for real-world environments. Several options are offered, including: level one certificate, level two certificate and AAS in Business Systems Technology.
