TSI PLACEMENT TEST INFORMATION

About the Test:

• All students entering Cisco College must take the TSI (unless you are exempt). The TSI is composed of three sections: math, reading, and writing. Each of these sections contains up to three parts. Testers may be required to take one, two, or three sections of the test. Please visit the Counseling and Testing section of the Cisco website (www.cisco.edu) or contact a counselor for questions about exemptions and which sections you will need to take.
• The TSI is untimed, so the time necessary to complete the exam will vary. However, as a guide, allow approximately 1-2 hours per section. Allow additional time after completing the test to talk with a counselor for an explanation of TSI test scores. Students still testing at closing time will have the test saved and will schedule a time to return and complete the exam.
• The TSI requires a Pre-Assessment Activity be completed prior to testing. The link to this can be found above, under TSI Preparation. After completing the pre-assessment slide show, print and complete the Pre-Assessment Verification Form provided on the last page of the slideshow and bring it to the test.
• The TSI is composed of multiple choice questions and is taken completely on the computer. The writing section includes an essay which is also typed on the computer.
• Test Fee must be paid prior to being allowed to test. This fee is payable by cash, money order (made out to Cisco College), debit card, MasterCard, VISA, Discover, or American Express.  Payment may be made at the Business Office on the day of testing.
One section - $12
Two sections - $24
Three sections - $36
• Testers will need to know their Social Security number for the test.
• Photo identification will be required before being allowed to test.
• Testers planning to attend a college other than Cisco need to bring the name of the institution and a current fax number and office or person where scores can be sent.
• Only testers and Cisco College personnel are allowed in the Testing Center.

• By testing at either campus of Cisco College, testers are agreeing to abide by the Cisco College Testing Center policies, Guidlines, and TSI Placement Test Information. For complete information concerning policies, see the Cisco College Testing Center Policy Manual by accessing it through the link below under Testing Center Policy Manual.

CREDIT BY EXAMINATION

Cisco College recognizes credit by examination for the College Level Examination Program (CLEP), the Advance Placement Program (AP) and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program (IB). Students that score high enough on select exams may receive credit for coursework at Cisco College. Other institutions have varying policies on accepting credit by examination so a student wishing to transfer this credit to another institution needs to check with that institution regarding their policy. Click here for a full listing of credit by examination opportunities.

Personal Counseling

Counselors are available to provide short-term assistance to help students address issues that may be hindering them in succeeding in college. There is no charge for this service but this counseling is limited in nature and length, and in some cases a student will be referred to community resources to better address their issues, such as City of Cisco or InfoAbilene.

Transfer Information

Both locations offer Transition Centers that help you navigate educational options, including information on university and college requirements and assisting with creating course plans and schedules for students. Catalogs and admission information is maintained on most colleges and universitites in Texas for students to browse during regular hours. Check out these sites for more info:

Special Populations

It is the policy of Cisco College to identify and provide services to students qualifying as "Special Student Populations." Defined by Federal law, these populations include students with disabilities, students who are economically or educationally disadvantaged, and students with limited English proficiency. Services for qualified individuals may include appropriate educational accommodations and community referrals. A student who meets the definition of a "Special Population" student should contact the Special Populations Coordinator at their location:
