David White - Head Coach
Coach White came to Cisco after eight years as the Assistant Coach at Howard Payne University in Brownwood, Texas. Originally from Rising Star, Texas, he was a three sport standout in football, basketball, and track. He was also the state champion in the pole vault his senior year. Coach White received his Bachelor’s degree from Howard Payne University, where he was also a standout on the baseball team. He earned all conference honors all four years (89-92) and was the conference player of the year in 1992. He also earned All-American honors in both 1991 & 1992. He then served two years as a graduate assistant under the legendary Jack Allen at Tarleton State University, where he also earned his Master’s degree. Coach White started the program here at Cisco College and is currently in his 11th year. Coach White and his wife Marla have two children, Aurie (20) and Devin (11).
Shawn Hughes - Asst. Coach
Coach Hughes is originally from Arlington, Texas and spent the five seasons prior to moving to Cisco as the Assistant Baseball Coach at West Texas A&M University in Canyon, Texas. Hughes attended Howard Payne University where he received All-American honors as a catcher in 1996 and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing with a minor in Communications. Coach Hughes played 7 seasons of minor league ball. He has won two league championships, been elected to three all-star teams, won the Home Run Derby in the 2003 All-Star Game, and won a league MVP award in 2000 with the Amarillo Dillas. Hughes earned his Master’s degree in Sports and Exercise Sciences in May of 2000 from West Texas A&M University. He is also certified as a Strength and Conditioning coach and spent the 2001 season as a strength coach with the Los Angeles Dodgers' AAA team in Las Vegas. Coach Hughes helped start this program and is currently in his 11th year. He and his wife, Angela, have one son, Griffith (12).
Jon Coyne- Asst. Coach
Jon Coyne, a native of Fort Worth, Texas, is beginning his first season as the Wranglers Pitching Coach.
Before coming to Cisco, Coyne was the volunteer assistant at Wichita State University for two seasons (2013-2014). Coyne coached along side with Hall of Fame coach Gene Stephenson in 2013. His first season the Shox went to the Manhatten Regional and won the Missouri Valley Conference. During his time at WSU Coyne coached six players who were selected in the Major League Draft. Inlcuding a 1st round selection to the Tampa Bay Ray (Casey Gillaspie).
Prior to Wichita State Coyne was the volunteer assistant coach at Texas-Pan American for the fall 2012 semester. He assisted with infielders, hitters and base runners and also served as the camp director.
Coyne served as the head coach for NTIS Team USA North Texas 13U from 2011-12 and was the assistant coach for NTIS Team USA North Texas 17U and 15U.
From 2010-12, Coyne coached with the Dallas Tigers Select baseball team and in the summer of 2011, Coyne coached the Coppell Copperheads to the Texas Collegiate League championship.
In 2010, he played first base for Texas-Pan American. Before going to UTPA, Coyne played for two years at El Paso Community College and was named to the all-conference team.
Coyne graduated from North Texas in 2012 with a bachelor's degree in general studies.
FUNGOMAN- Asst. Coach
Fungoman has been with us for the last 4 years. www.fungoman.com It cannot be put into words. To experience all it can do, please visit the following link, or google "fungoman". It allows us to take THOUSANDS of ground/fly balls every day. On a rainy day, we can set it up in our indoor bldg and 6 inflielders can get 100 ground balls each in 30 min.
Grif Hughes and Devin White - Asst. Coaches
Both Grif (12) and Devin (10) have been with the program since it started back in the Fall of 2004. Both have played an integral part in the success of the Cisco Baseball Progam. Currently Grif works with the Left Handed Pitchers and also runs the scoreboard and music for home games. Devin works with the infielders and hitters.
